Cloughjordan Ecovillage, located in Co. Tipperary, is Ireland’s first ecovillage. In the 15 years since the first residents moved in, we have shown the power and possibility of sustainable living.
We work to; minimise pollution to the air, water and land; demonstrate a new approach to rural regeneration; facilitate systems whereby people can create local and sustainable work; and provide for the cultural, artistic and non-material needs of the residents of the village and surrounding community.
Cultivate is supporting the Cloughjordan Co-housing project. Co-housing is an innovative means of housing people. Community-led housing overcomes social isolation and enhances well-being and resilience by enabling people to be part of an active community that encourages mutual care and support.

We work with WeAll Ireland on a number of projects such as Creatively Building Back Better and Social Imaginaries.
The WeAll Hub Ireland initiative began in late 2020 when two Irish charities, the Foundation for the Economics of Sustainability (Feasta) and the European Health Futures Forum (EHFF), that are members of WEAll, joined with Social Justice Ireland, Cultivate: The Sustainable Ireland Cooperative, and individuals including Peter Doran of Queen’s University School of Law in Northern Ireland, in order to form the core of the Hub.
Cloughjordan Community Farm is also based in the Cloughjordan ecosystem.
Cloughjordan Community Farm (CCF) is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative. CSAs are about sharing risk rewards and responsibilities in farming and can be farmer-led, community-led or other iterations.
CCF is a member-owned and operated CSA, with the membership employing producers and facilitating volunteers to grow 60 or so agroecological crops. Members develop the budget and activities in a participatory manner, with members organising the domains of activity the farm engages in.
The farm organises activities in the food hub (Bay one), including a weekly Tuesday Cafe, a fortnightly market (the North Tipperary online Farmers Market) and the EATs and BEATs events.
CCF partners with Cultivate on other activities, such as the annual Feeding Ourselves conference and the Eats&Beats events.
