Cultivate currently coordinates Living Labs in two Horizon Europe projects—EU4Advice and CODECS—that aim to accelerate the transition to resilient, local food systems. Cultivate has contributed to earlier Horizon 2020 research projects focused on digitalisation, soil health, and citizen engagement.
In DESIRA (Digitisation: Economic and Social Impacts in Rural Areas), we explored how digital innovation can support small farmers and rural communities. As a Living Lab, we analysed the impacts of digitalisation on local livelihoods, and contributed to communications and stakeholder engagement.
In the GROW Observatory, Cultivate led a major work package focused on community engagement. We supported the creation of 24 ‘GROW’ communities in 13 countries that created a network of 6,502 in-situ soil sensors, and a dataset of 516M soil data entries. This project engaged thousands of citizens in soil health monitoring using citizen science.
