Cultivate, the Sustainable Ireland Coop is a national NGO supporting community-led responses to environmental, social, and economic challenges.
Based in Cloughjordan Ecovillage, Cultivate empowers communities through training, events, and collaborative action—weaving relationships across people and places to strengthen local economies and advance a just, regenerative future.
We build the capacity of local changemakers and groups to respond to climate, economic, and social challenges through inclusive engagement and practical training. Our Community Climate Coaches programme equips community catalysts with facilitation skills to lead climate conversations and action in their communities. We also offer Permaculture and Regenerative Design courses with a focus on community resilience.
Cultivate supports the transition to fair, sustainable, and resilient food systems rooted in agroecology and food sovereignty. We convene the Feeding Ourselves Gathering and Community of Practice for farmers, food advocates, and researchers. With Feasta and Talamh Beo we are progressing a 2 year policy research project called ‘Strengthening Local Food Economies”. Through 2 European Living Labs, we support the development of short food supply chain advisors, and digital tools that strengthen local food economies and empower food producers.
We are helping shape an economy that puts people and the planet first. As a founding member of the Wellbeing Economy Hub for Ireland, we co-develop programmes that challenge dominant narratives and foster imagination-led approaches to economic change. Through events, storytelling, and partnerships with artists, activists, and communities, we explore how culture and creativity can unlock new possibilities for transformation.
