This will be a weekend camp of learning from one another, through practical and lifestyle workshops, skill sharing, networking, and celebration. It is an event which we create together. All are welcome and everybody has something to offer and anybody can get involved and help out.
If you suggest something the likely answer will be “thats a great idea, go right ahead and do it or organise it.” The only criteria is that things fit into the Permaculture Ethics: Care of the Earth, Care of People, Fair Share.
We want to create a space where we can live together and really experience permaculture, self organisation, open space, low cost, enhancing a site, bringing something special to a unique location, collaborating, learning, and being in tune with the ethics.
Last year the gathering was held in County Wicklow. As it was the first time this had happened in Ireland it was really an experiment which managed to create a really beautifull event. So we are fortunate this year, we know it can be done and we are building on the momentum from last year's event.
Between now & the gathering we'll be onsite hosting free educational workshops, where all are invited to come to the site to get involved with the preparations. That might be building compost toilets, putting up fences, planning & planting food gardens, playing music or anything else any one would like to contribute. Keep an eye on the website for updates: www.permaculture.ie.
Tickets: The Permaculture Gathering is crowd-funded. The registration cost just covers the costs of insurance and other expenses, no-one receives any payment. The cost for adults is €40, children are free. A concession of €30 is available on workdays & there is also a concession cost of €20, applicable if you cannot afford the €40 cost. If possible, it would be a great help if you could bring something to the gathering in place of the higher registration cost. Buying a ticket in advance also helps us to guage how many people to expect onsite and plan facilities accordingly. You can book online at www.permaculture.ie. Tickets are also available at workdays onsite or you can pay by postal order.
