Lecture & Workshop w/ Aba Aziz Makaja, KOMAJA

Part of the 3rd Health & Yoga Day

Saturday 6th June 2009 | Lecture from 12:45 - 2:00pm in Classroom 4/5 & Workshop from 3:30 - 4:45pm in Classroom 4/5 | €Included in ticket for 3rd Health & Yoga Day | Cultivate Centre | Book online or ring 01 674 5773

For the first time in Ireland, the world famous and acknowledged spiritual master Aba Aziz Makaja will present aspects of his teaching concerning the ennobling and spiritualisation of sexuality in his lecture "A Model of a Sexually Healthy Society” and in the workshop "Love Meditation"

About the lecture and the workshop:

Studying statistics of marriage and divorce as well as deceit in marriages/ cohabitations, it becomes obvious that “speaking one thing” and “living another” has become a feature of our Christian-civil culture concerning love and sexuality. People speak about monogamy and eternal fidelity “… till death do you part”, but live what their hearts and other organs desire. Where is the way out of this hypocrisy or religious and worldly blind alley concerning sexuality and partnership?

In his lecture “A Model of a Sexually Healthy Society” Makaja will show a way, which can be taken by all people – no matter of their sexual orientation, Weltanschauung or religion. This path is based upon the development of competences, above all love, falling in love and elation. In addition there are love-erotic and physical skills which enable the practitioner to intensify these competences and develop them further. For this purpose Makaja offers a great variety of original methods, as for example the Love Meditation, which he will demonstrate in his workshop, that are based upon his “Theology of Sexuality”. Makaja says: “Sexuality is something holy, given by God, something, with the help of which we can develop in the direction of an ever greater and livelier life – up to divine ecstasy and bliss!” www.komaja.org

YOGA - Inspired by the teachings of the late Vanda Scaravelli

This approach to yoga uses focused attention to undo habitual tension in the body and helps body and mind to relax and strengthen.

With the help of breath and gravity yoga brings a deep feeling of connection and freedom of movement.

The practice of asanas is used to explore how the body and especially the spine wants to move naturally and free. Curiosity and patience are needed to let the body do what it is designed to do.

This is a slow yet strong approach and over time and practice will change the body’s shape and constitution in a beautiful natural way.

The Inner Journey: Meditation and Self-Discovery with Shane Magee

A Part of Cultivate's Health & Yoga Day

Saturday June 21st | Workshop from 2.00 - 3.15pm | €Price: included in Health & Yoga Day

This class aims to give a taste of the joy that comes with discovering yourself through meditation.

In the class, we will explore what happens as we venture beyond the confines of our limiting mind and bring our awareness to the heart centre, that space in the middle of our chest where we can feel the core of our being. Here, in the heart, is where the best and finest impulses of human nature come from - empathy, generosity, and an expanded sense of self. Most importantly, it is where we can feel the happiness and sense of purpose in life that we all search for.

Ultimately, meditation is not something learned by listening to others talk, but by doing yourself. Hence we will try and introduce as many different meditation exercises as we can - silent meditation, music, visualisations - in the hope that you will find something you can take away and use in your own journey of self-discovery.

Tantra - The Ecstatic Dance of Energies with Marc

A Presentation introducing some of the fundamental aspects of Tantra

A part of Cultivate's Kick-Start 2009

Saturday, 7th February 2009 | 12:00 - 13:30 | Classroom 6 | €Price: included in Kick-Start 2009

Yoga and Tantra form the primary basis of the Indian spirituality. Many things have been written about these Spiritual Traditions, but due to their depth and hidden symbolism, they remain largely unknown to the West. Being concealed along the ages, Tantra remains diffuse, mysterious and enigmatic.

Alike all genuine Spiritual disciplines the goal in Tantra is to reach the Supreme Happiness but unlike most systems the approach is not by means of asceticism, whereby the physical body or desires are rejected. On the contrary, Tantra is a way of acceptance, pleasure and bliss. It embraces all aspects of life.

Tantra is the only discipline generating a synthesis between the seemingly opposed dimensions of sensory pleasure and Spiritual Liberation. From this perspective, sexual congress is not merely the satisfaction of a physical carnal desire. It is in fact, the inner aspiration to achieve the state of complete union, to fulfill the alchemic opera that unifies the Male, Solar principle with the Female, Lunar principle in order to arrive at the perfection of the being. This is a new vision of sexuality that may shock people. “Can making love help the person to reach that perfect state of salvation that many mystics have spoken of?” The answer is simple and very real: YES.

Enjoy Hatha Yoga with a touch of Healing and Aura-Soma. The word Yoga means Union. Its purpose is to bring in a deeper connection between Body, Mind and Spirit. Aura-Soma means Light-body. It is a system based on a wide spectrum of colourful equilibrium, quintessences and pomanders each of which contains the energy of colours, crystals, gems, essential oils, minerals and herbs grown organically and is designed to enable the practitioner to re-attune with the light body within themselves. Combining these two practices with an intuitive approach can enable the participants to withdraw from the business of daily life, re-connect with their own divine essence and experience inner peace and a lightness of spirit.

Marie Angeline Lascaux brings together over 20 years experience in the holistic field, her passion for yoga, healing and Aura-Soma to enable the participants to re-attune with the light body within themselves and tap into their own ability to heal from within.

Aura-Soma means Light Body. Colours in many of the ancient wisdom systems were seen as the nature of consciousness and so to work with the light body in the form of Aura-Soma is to really work with the light frequencies of the energy centres and the nature of consciousness within ourselves.

Aura-Soma has a system of 107 colour combinations that fine tunes these energy centres. Aura-Soma is a self selective, non intrusive therapeutic system  inviting you to select what might help you to come back into balance the most easily. “You are the colours you choose and these reflect your being’s needs.”

Saturday, 7th February 2009 | 10:00 - 11:30 | Classroom 4/5  | €Price: included in Kick-Start 2009

In this workshop we will practice Hatha Yoga, as it was traditionally taught, and discover how the asanas (often considered as mere bodily exercises) are in fact very accurate and complex procedures of accumulating certain types of energy at specific levels of our being.

In this approach we discover that it is the harmonious energising of all the chakras which is the fundamental key for having perfect physical and mental health, for awakening the latent powers of the mind and for accelerating the spiritual evolution.

Through perseverant practice in this way, one gradually realizes a complete opening towards the Universe and gains total access to the energetic environment. And from then on, the human being participates in the Eternal Life of the Universe in the same way that a drop of water participates in the life of the ocean.

Hatha Yoga - Dynamising the Power Centres with Marc Allen

/tantra Part of the 5th Health & Yoga Days

Saturday 12th June 2010 | 11:30 - 12:30 |  Area 2 - Fitzwilliam Square | €Included in ticket for 5th Health & Yoga Days | Buy online or ring 01 674 5773

One of the main ideas in Yoga is that we have within ourselves an immense power and vast possibilities only that we do not know how to use them. Modern science informs us that we are using only 4% of our brain, yet through the ancient science of Yoga we learn ways to expand and develop the consciousness, unlocking all of our latent abilities, to the greatest extent. Through Yoga we gain complete awareness of who we truly are and what we can become.

In this workshop we will practice Hatha Yoga as it was traditionally taught. Firstly, you will learn a set of techniques (from the Tibetan tradition) that are providing an ‘energetic warm up’ arousing the chakras. This is considered of extreme benefit in this practice of Yoga preparing us for the practice of the Asanas (physical postures). Some of these methods are quite simple but prove to be very regenerating and if practiced with adequate attention can in themselves lead to high levels of awareness.

I'm loving Angels instead

Angels...Beings with wings in the clouds? Or something ethereal that you can't quite understand? Or people's imagination?

Whatever the reality, it turns out that beings like angels have been a part of the traditions of many societies around the world. In the Eastern tradition heavenly dancers, singers and demigods are described as populating the entire cosmos.

AMMA -  A HUMANTIARIAN AND A SELF-REALIZED SPIRITUAL TEACHER
                    - An introducton by Vijay Kohli

"The beauty and charm of selfless love and service should not die away from the face of the earth. The world should know that a life of dedication is possible, that a life inspired by love and service to humanity is possible."  - Amma

AMMA'S TEACHINGS

Amma always points out that the purpose of one's life is to realize who we really are. She says, "By realizing our own Self we become full, with nothing more to gain in life. Life becomes perfect."

To attain this goal, no particular path or spiritual practice can be recommended for all. "Just as a doctor gives different dosages or even different medications to patients with the same ailment according to their constitution, so does a Spiritual Master prescribe different methods to different people to reach the same goal. Spirituality is the practical science of life. Apart from taking us to the ultimate goal of Self-realization it also teaches us the nature of the world, and how to understand life and live fully in the best way possible."

However, Amma says that the path of devotion and selfless-service is the safest and most conducive path for many people.

Though Amma makes no claims herself, those who watch her closely notice that she is the greatest example of her teaching. Her disciples and believers imbibe her teachings by just watching her.

Yoga and Tantra form the primary basis of Indian spirituality. Many things have been written about these Spiritual Traditions, but due to their depth and hidden symbolism, they remain largely unknown to the West. Being concealed along the ages, Tantra remains diffuse, mysterious and enigmatic.

In this presentation, we will introduce the essential goal in Tantra and reveal how, being based on certain fundamental principles, the Tantric vision offers a complete integration of all elements in our life in a unitary whole.

Being highly distinctive in its approach to Spirituality,Tantra uses all the very intense experiences that life provides in order to expand the sphere of consciousness through the fusion with life’s energies and experiences. And in fact, the Tantric path shows us that when we become aware of every moment, our life is transformed into an ecstatic triumph.

Saturday 6th June 2009 | 4:30 - 6:00pm |  Classroom 11 | €Included in ticket for 3rd Health & Yoga Day | Cultivate Centre | Book online or ring 01 674 5773

Are you aware of how often you think negative thoughts or play out self-critical internal dialogue in your mind? Have you ever stopped to consider what impact this might have on your life? This workshop is about increasing your consciousness around your thoughts and exploring how your thoughts create your reality.

Our minds are extremely powerful and often how we feel is dictated by what we think. Many of us feed negative thoughts and dialogue when we could substitute them with positive thoughts and positive dialogue. Whether we acknowledge it or not, we have a choice to think positively or negatively. Buddha said it best: “We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.” When we each discover the significance of this truth, we can decide how best to ‘feed’ our mind so as to manifest what we truly want.

A Part of Cultivate's Second Health & Yoga Day

Saturday November 22nd | Workshop from 2.30 - 4.00 pm | €Price: included in Health & Yoga Day

"Just drop in to see people being healed...

It really goes right against the grain to say this as a Doctor, but that is what you are going to see on the day, it's as simple as that. My fellow Doctors are calling it miraculous. I call it Mindful EFT. This is a Combination Therapy and it would seem to have a higher success rate than just EFT on its own. We have always had success with everyone who comes forward on the day. That's what has happened on each occasion so far, Seminar after Seminar"

Dr. Anthony Sharkey (MB, Bch, BA0, DCH, Trinity 1982) is Ireland's only medically qualified doctor specialising in the use of EFT for serious illness, including chronic pain,  depression, anxiety disorders, addictions, relationship difficulties, panic attacks and phobias (especially fear of flying and public speaking).

Chakra Dance Active Meditation with Richard Stone

A part of Cultivate's Being Human - A Day of Dance

Saturday, 2nd May 2009 | 3:15 - 4:30pm  | Classroom 11
€Price: included in Being Human - A Day of Dance

Feel alive in your body, expand your energy, feel joyful, be present!

This is a free expressive dance, guided by the energies of the chakras, and inspired by Osho exercises and tantra techniques.  We feel into the qualities of each chakra in turn, with music specifically written for each chakra, allowing the body to freely express these energies through spontaneous dancing. 40 minutes of dancing leads into 20 minutes of stillness, where we lie down and simply witness the sensations and emotions arising in our body.

Osho recognised that it is difficult for us to still our minds and simply be, with our modern hectic pace of life, so he utilised active meditations, such as dance, to allow expression of our excess energy, so we may then come into stillness.
