This year, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Environment Department, in association with Cultivate, are proud to present CoolEarth; a weekend eco-fair that showcases contemporary and innovative solutions for a changing world. Part of this year's Festival of World Cultures.
At CoolEarth you will be able to shop for eco goods, research your green building and renewable energy needs, listen to a talk, watch a film or relax in the café.
The fair will feature stalls and information by organisations and businesses working towards a better world. Talks on climate change, energy and biodiversity will be given by leading thinkers from Ireland and abroad. These include David Strahan, award-winning investigative journalist, BBC documentary film-maker and author of The Last Oil Shock.
In the café, Slow Food Ireland will offer artisan food tastings to the sounds of world music DJs. Throughout the weekend short films, new media and animation will be screened. A dedicated space for kids' activities will complete this unique space.
Highlights of CoolEarth include:
• 4.00pm Saturday - "How will oil depletion and climate change impact world cultures?"
- Featuring international speakers and authors
• 4.00pm Sunday - "Reducing food miles and carbon footprints"
- Leading thinkers discuss the benefits of local food
