Co-designing a future that works for all
Hosted by the Cloughjordan Learning Alliance in collaboration with the P2P Foundation
August and September 2014 at Cloughjordan Ecovillage
The Summer of Resilience is a programme of events and inspiring conversations focused on community and collaborative approaches to regenerating the economy and society.
This is a great opportunity to visit Cloughjordan Ecovillage and Ireland’s first Fab Lab while learning, making and networking. With workshops, exhibitions, design challenges, a symposium, food and celebration, let’s explore how we create a future that works for all! Express your interest using this form.
Cloughjordan ecovillage
The Summer of Resilience is primarily based in Cloughjordan Ecovillage with additional events in Dublin, Limerick, Stradbally and in Cloughjordan town itself.
The Ecovillage is located in the heart of Cloughjordan and received the Gold Award for best 'Socio-Economic Project' at UN International Awards for Liveable Communities in Xiamen, China, Nov 2013. It now has 100 residents living in 50 high-performance green homes; over 20,000 newly planted trees and Ireland’s largest renewable energy district heating system. Django’s is welcoming overnight guests, Cloughjordan Wood-Fired Bakery is producing award-winning breads and WeCreate, unique creative and technological workspace for eco entrepreneurs, is open for business.
The Resilience Centre
Formally the ecovillage Welcome Centre, this central office will be kept open by the alliance and act as the communication and booking office for the programme of events as well as disseminating information on what is going on in Cloughjordan, hosting the Ecovillage EdVisits programme and conversations and events as well as screening films over the summer.

BUILDING RESILIENCE WORKCAMP
Hosted by VSI
Building Resilience is a chance to explore a community-based response to climate change, to develop an understanding of climate justice, and to understand the role individuals have in their own communities, homes and environments in addressing the unequal effect of climate change across our communities and the world. The project will combine non-formal learning workshops and practical volunteering projects, in Ireland’s only eco-village, a unique project in the rural midlands of Ireland. The project will also challenge volunteers to look at their own contribution to climate change, and to explore real alternatives. VSI actively encourages the participation of volunteers from diverse backgrounds in this project.
